Kristin: Holly, you know that my skin color is very fair complected and I often have trouble finding red lipsticks that look good on me. I feel as if other girls with tanner skin can choose from more of a variety of reds and I often look washed out when I choose the wrong color red.
What is your favorite red lipstick for fall that anyone can wear???????
Holly: Oh, how I love red lipstick! There’s something so glamorous and seductive about red. Choosing the right shade can be a bit tricky, so when in doubt, pick a true red which is neither cool nor warm. It’s neutral, so it’s flattering on all complexions. My favorite neutral red is Russian Red by MAC. It looks amazing paired with either Brick or Cherry lipliner by MAC. To ensure long-lasting lip color, first line your lips with lip pencil, then fill them in. Apply your lipstick and blot on a tissue paper. Apply a second coat of lipstick. In order to have perfect lipstick application, trace along the edges of the lipstick with a cotton swab to correct any mistakes that you’ve made. Then, take a concealer brush and line the outside of your lips with a light amount of concealer. Dust a loose powder on top of the concealer to keep the lipstick from feathering.
***Russian Red by MAC is also Dita Von Teese’s favorite lipstick. She likes to put the lipstick in the freezer, then once it’s hard, she transfers the color out of it’s case into a vintage lipstick case. How romantic!***
